A Pulmonary Lung Function Test, also known as a pulmonary function test (PFT), is a group of tests used to evaluate how well your lungs are working. It measures various aspects of lung performance.

If you have a valid referral from your healthcare provider (GP or a Specialist Doctor), you are eligible for a Medicare rebate.
I Do NOT have a Referral
OPTION 1: You can download the referral form and go to your GP or Specialist Doctor and handover the form. They will assist you.
OPTION 2: You can book the test without a referral. However, please note that you will be billed the full test fee, as the Medicare rebate is only available for bookings made with a referral.
What is a Lung Function Test?
There are variety of tests to decide if you have a functional issue with your lungs.
Your specialist or GP will decide what exact type of test is required.
How long does it take?
The test times vary from 15 minutes 90 minutes depending on the complexity of the test.
How much does it cost?
This service is mixed billed.

What is measured?
Lung Volume: Determines the total amount of air your lungs can hold and how much air is left after you exhale.
Airflow: Assesses how quickly you can inhale and exhale air, including measuring forced expiratory volume (FEV) and forced vital capacity (FVC).
Gas Exchange: Evaluates how well oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchanged between your lungs and bloodstream.
Diffusion Capacity: Measures how effectively oxygen passes from the lungs into the blood.
Peak Expiratory Flow Rate (PEFR): Assesses the highest speed at which you can exhale, often used to monitor asthma.
