Lung Function Testing
The Sydney Respiratory Specialist clinic at Wahroonga has a comprehensive Lung Function Laboratory.
The laboratory offers a full range of lung function tests including:
– Spirometry
– Lung volumes
– Diffusion capacity
– Mannitol challenge test
– Exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO)
– Skin prick tests
– Six-minute walk test (6MWT)
REFERRAL
You must have a valid referral from your healthcare provider (GP or a Specialist Doctor), for you to have a lung function test.
We need this referral to tell us exactly what test you need and what conditions the doctor is concerned about.
A valid referral will also make you eligible for a Medicare rebate.

There are variety of tests to decide if you have a functional issue with your lungs.
Your specialist or GP will decide what exact type of test is required.
How long does it take?
The test times vary from 15 minutes 90 minutes depending on the complexity of the test.
How much does it cost?
This service is mixed billed.
If you have a valid referral from your healthcare provider (GP or a Specialist Doctor), you are eligible for a Medicare rebate.
All patients require a referral from their GP or Specialist to obtain this lung function rebate.
